MY TRAVELLING LIFE

While my husband and son have been my heart's blood, travelling has been my life's blood. I have visited or lived in forty countries but there are many more I wish to explore. Below are just a few of my favourites.

Fiji 1972

Teaching on Volunteer Service Abroad for a year. Young, fresh and believing that the world can be changed.

Italy 1977 - 1986

OE ground to a halt.

The first country on my quest to travel the world became the last stop. I met the love of my life and I stayed.

Paris 1978

In love and on top of the world. My first trip away with Adriano to England and France. Even the oily rag didn't exist.

Switzerland 1978

Lost suitcase - new clothes. There's nothing like a new wardrobe. Travelling through Switzerland, Austria and Germany with my mother.

Greece 1979

Making an ass of myself.Backpacking around the Greek Island, walking for miles and getting sick on ouzo.

Monaco 1982

Living dangerously. On our way to Spain in our bright green bomb of a car.

Spain 1982

Alhambra - the garden of Eden. The car broke down twice and we were robbed but what a fascinating country.

Sardinia 1982

Living it up in a holiday village. A rugged, mysterious island where kidnap victims were regularly hidden.

Austria 1983

Love on wheels. A BMW R60 was our means of transport this time. Freedom from queues.

New Zealand 1991

And then there were three. Home at last and starting a family.

South Africa 2002

Travelling again. The reason for the gap is sitting next to me -Dario, 11 years old. South Africa is a beautiful, sad country.

Zambia 2002

Shooting targets - not the game. A great trip to my uncle's fishing lodge on the Zambezi River. What fabulous sunsets and sunrises.

Scotland 2004

Still together after 27 years. A wondrous road trip around Scotland, England and Wales.

Korea 2005

The three of us on our way back to see family in Italy. I also visited my sister in Jersey Island and toured Southern Ireland.

Vanuatu & New Caledonia 2006

A well-needed relaxing cruise to two of the Pacific Islands. Unfortunately my father died while we were there.

Cambodia & Vietnam 2007

Cambodia must be visited right now before the flocks of tourists arrive. The ancient temples of Angkor Wat are wonderfully mysterious and unforgettable.

Eastern Europe 2007

We took another trip this year. We went back to see family in Italy and while there we took a road trip through Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovenia. We didn't get lost even once.

Egypt 2008

This year I finally got to see the incredible temples and tombs of this ancient land. The only negatives were a heat wave with temperatures climbing towards 60 degrees centigrade and tummy bugs all round.
